Space42 Hails Thuraya-4 as Shift Toward Integrated Satellite Connectivity Platform
Space42 has provided an update on its Thuraya-4 system, saying that it is moving satellite communications beyond a backup role, and positioning it instead as an integrated connectivity platform for critical sectors.
Speaking at Make it in the Emirates 2026, the company said Thuraya-4, which became available in November 2025, has been designed to support continuous operations across industries such as maritime, energy, aviation and emergency response, where reliable communications are required in remote or infrastructure-limited environments. The system is now entering commercial readiness, following its global rollout announcement in late 2025.
The platform combines satellite capacity with terrestrial integration and sector-specific services, reflecting a broader shift toward more operationally embedded satcom solutions. Rather than being used only when terrestrial networks fail, satellite connectivity is increasingly being built into day-to-day workflows, linking assets, teams and control systems in real time.
Thuraya-4 also introduces support for IoT applications and direct-to-device (D2D) connectivity, extending its relevance beyond traditional voice and messaging services. The system is expected to be deployed across more than 100 countries, with a range of products targeting government and enterprise users.
