Vodacom and Starlink Partner to Expand Connectivity Across Africa

Vodacom Group has signed an agreement with Starlink to integrate low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite broadband into its network, accelerating rural coverage and enterprise connectivity across Africa. The partnership combines Vodacom’s terrestrial 4G, 5G, and fiber infrastructure with Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency satellite network aiming to bridge the digital divide and extend reliable internet access to underserved regions.

Under the deal, Vodacom will resell Starlink services and equipment to enterprise and SME customers, tailoring local solutions such as pay-as-you-use backup internet, resilient hybrid connectivity, and satellite-powered branch networking. The integration of Starlink satellite backhaul will enhance Vodacom’s mobile coverage in remote and hard-to-reach areas, supporting schools, health centres, and rural communities.

Aligned with Vodacom’s Vision 2030, the partnership looks to strengthen the operator’s multi-layer connectivity portfolio and supports its goal to deliver universal broadband access and economic inclusion across Africa.
