Skylo Drives Satellite Connectivity with D2D for Vehicles
Skylo is partnering with companies like BMW Group, Deutsche Telekom, Qualcomm, HARMAN, and others to showcase direct-to-device (D2D) satellite connectivity for vehicles.
At the upcoming 5GAA event in Paris, Skylo will demo a suite of always-on vehicle features: real-time hazard alerts, location tracking, and emergency messaging—even in places with no cellular coverage. BMW’s iX2 will be the first to show off satellite-powered messaging via Skylo’s non-terrestrial network using a standard SIM from Deutsche Telekom.
The company is also unveiling the world’s first unified eSIM for both cellular and satellite, developed with Cubic³ and Rolling Wireless, and powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Auto 5G Modem. HARMAN is on board too, demonstrating bidirectional emergency connectivity from its TCU platform.
