LG Demos Voice-Enabled Connectivity for Cars
LG Electronics has debuted its groundbreaking satellite-based IoT-NTN solution at the 2025 5G Automotive Association conference in Paris, showcasing real-time, two-way voice communication from a moving vehicle. The demo marked a global first: uninterrupted voice calls seamlessly switching between terrestrial (3G/4G/5G) and satellite networks.
Designed for areas with no cellular coverage, such as remote terrain or post-disaster zones, LG’s system combines Telematics Control Units with AI-powered voice compression to transmit voice messages over satellite at speeds 10x faster than legacy methods. That means drivers can speak, not just text, during emergencies, even when they don’t have a terrestrial signal.
LG’s live showcase drove the point home: a car equipped with the tech roamed across TN and NTN zones in Paris, sending and receiving real-time voice messages to highlight seamless network switching.
