AccelerComm and Radisys Get UKSA Funding for Next-Gen 5G Satellites

The UK Space Agency has awarded funding from its International Bilateral Fund (IBF) to support a joint project between AccelerComm and Radisys aimed at advancing high-performance Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs).

The collaboration will integrate AccelerComm’s space-proven physical layer solutions into Radisys’ lab in India, creating a platform for joint research, demonstrations, and customer engagement. The companies have worked together for years on satellite-optimized 5G technologies and say this latest initiative positions them well ahead of rivals only now adapting terrestrial solutions for space.

AccelerComm specializes in error-resilient, power-efficient physical layer technology that addresses the unique demands of space-based 5G, including Direct-to-Device (D2D) and IoT applications. Radisys brings expertise in RAN software and regenerative payloads, crucial for making 5G satellite base stations viable in LEO/MEO environments.

Combining UK-led innovation with global collaboration, the project aims to help deliver reliable, high-performance 5G satellite broadband to users worldwide.
