4iG and Eutelsat Sign 15yr Licence Agreement for Hungary’s HUSAT Programme
4iG Space and Defence Technologies (4iG SDT) has signed a 15-year Geostationary Orbit and Frequency Licence Agreement with Eutelsat, a milestone in Hungary’s HUSAT satellite programme, the largest privately initiated and financed space project in Central and Eastern Europe.
Under the agreement, Eutelsat grants 4iG SDT exclusive rights to operate the upcoming HUGEO telecommunications satellite in a designated orbital slot with associated frequencies, forming the foundation for Hungary’s sovereign satellite infrastructure.
The HUSAT programme includes one geostationary communications satellite (HUGEO) and eight low Earth orbit (LEO) observation satellites (HULEO) to be launched by 2032, positioning 4iG SDT as a regional leader in integrated space and telecom systems.
4iG SDT CEO Dr. István Sárhegyi said the partnership “underlines Hungarian space industry ambitions and strengthens 4iG Group’s role as a leading technology player in the region.”
The project supports Hungary’s digital sovereignty and regional connectivity goals, while deepening cooperation between European satellite and telecom industries through Eutelsat’s multi-orbit expertise.
