Viasat Launches Next-Gen Global Satellite IoT Messaging Service

Viasat has unveiled IoT Nano, a new low-power, low-data satellite messaging service designed for remote IoT asset monitoring and control across industries like agriculture, mining, transport, and utilities. Powered by ORBCOMM’s OGx next-generation satellite IoT service, IoT Nano offers faster message speeds, larger payloads, and improved power efficiency compared to previous solutions.

The service supports both legacy IDP devices and new OGx-enabled terminals, enabling smoother upgrades while lowering operational costs. Viasat’s ELEVATE partner program helps OEMs and solution providers develop hardware tailored for diverse IoT applications globally.

Viasat and ORBCOMM aim to expand IoT satellite connectivity reach with a scalable, flexible platform suited for challenging environments, enabling smarter data access at lower costs.
