Space42 and Sindan Explore Satellite Connectivity for Autonomous Systems

Space42 has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sindan to explore how satellite connectivity can be integrated into autonomous systems, with a focus on real-world testing and deployment.

The agreement, announced at Make it in the Emirates 2026, centres on combining Space42’s satellite communications capabilities with Sindan’s airborne platforms and flight-testing infrastructure. The companies plan to evaluate how satellite links perform in operational conditions, including real-time monitoring and system optimisation.

A key part of the collaboration will involve testing connectivity on autonomous platforms, assessing how satellite communications can support control, data transmission and reliability in environments where terrestrial networks are unavailable or inconsistent.

The work reflects growing interest in extending NTN capabilities beyond traditional use cases such as backhaul or direct-to-device, and into more complex systems including drones and other autonomous platforms. These applications place different demands on connectivity, particularly in terms of reliability and continuous coverage during movement.

For Space42, the partnership builds on its broader push to position satellite communications as part of an integrated operational ecosystem, while Sindan’s role focuses on enabling validation through flight testing and advanced manufacturing capabilities.

Both companies have said that the collaboration will also support wider industrial and space strategy goals in the UAE, particularly around the adoption of advanced technologies and the development of local capabilities in aerospace and connectivity.
