Space42 and Calidus Team Up for UAE Sovereign Satcom
Space42 has signed a cooperation agreement with Calidus Holding Group to co-develop next-generation satellite communications systems in the UAE, a partnership aimed squarely at strengthening sovereign, mission-critical connectivity for defense and national infrastructure.
Under the deal, Space42 becomes the preferred Satcom provider across all Calidus programs, integrating its AI-enabled satcom technologies into land, air, and defense platforms. The collaboration spans joint design, manufacturing, and integration of secure satcom systems, along with shared IP development and structured technology transfer to grow a domestic knowledge base.
The agreement also formalizes workstreams across R&D, export-compliant system engineering, commercialization, and national workforce development, aligning with the UAE’s National Space Strategy 2030 and the country’s push for homegrown space and defense capabilities.
Space42 says the partnership will deepen its role in delivering sovereign, resilient satellite connectivity for defense, emergency response, and national governance platforms. Calidus highlights the deal as an expansion of its capabilities into secure space-based communications and a catalyst for local talent and technology localization in critical sectors.
