SES Taps Infinite Orbits for Europe’s First Commercial GEO Life-Extension Mission
SES and Infinite Orbits have signed an agreement enabling Europe’s first commercial satellite life-extension mission, marking a step forward in sustainable GEO operations and next-generation in-orbit services.
Under the deal, Infinite Orbits will deploy Endurance™, a 750 kg life-extension and servicing vehicle designed for station-keeping, pointing management, orbital relocation, and end-of-life disposal. The mission, planned for launch in late 2027, includes an initial in-orbit demonstration, followed by docking with an SES geostationary satellite to begin commercial operations.
The capability gives SES a new tool to extend the operational lifetime of legacy GEO assets, preserve service continuity, and optimize fleet economics at a time when operators face increasing pressure to balance performance, cost efficiency and sustainability.
