Rohde & Schwarz Stakes Claim for Lead in 5G NTN Conformance Testing
Rohde & Schwarz says it has achieved the highest number of validated 3GPP NR NTN conformance test cases currently recognised by the Global Certification Forum (GCF), marking another milestone in the industry's push toward commercial satellite-to-device services.
The validations span the three key conformance domains defined by 3GPP Release 17, radio frequency (RF), radio resource management (RRM), and protocol conformance testing (PCT), covering the technical foundations required for standards-based non-terrestrial network deployments.
The achievement builds on the company’s earlier success in securing the first 5G NR NTN validation through the PTCRB certification process. With GCF validation now added, Rohde & Schwarz is positioning its test platforms as a key part of the emerging NTN certification ecosystem.
All testing was carried out using the company’s TS8980 conformance test platform, TS-RRM system and CMX500 signalling tester, with Samsung’s latest NR-NTN chipset serving as the device under test.
