OQ Claims Sends First Image Over 5G NTN IoT via LEO

OQ Technology has made satellite communications history by transmitting the first-ever image over 5G NTN IoT using its LEO satellite network and S-band spectrum, a breakthrough in visual data transfer for remote IoT applications.

In the demo, a motion-activated camera captured an image of a model rocket and sent it through OQ’s 5G NTN terminal (OQ ONE) via satellite, entirely bypassing terrestrial networks.

Why It Matters:
This marks a new era of visual intelligence from remote assets, expanding IoT from just “seeing data” to seeing the world:

  • Oil & Gas: Visual checks of remote pipelines and equipment

  • Defense & Security: Surveillance feeds from cameras, drones, and border sensors

  • Agriculture: Visual crop and livestock monitoring

  • Disaster Response: Real-time images from inaccessible zones

  • Predictive Maintenance: Visual confirmation of sensor alerts
