MNIS:NTN Virtual Event – Session Focus: Exploring the Technology and Innovation Roadmap for NTN – WBA, Ookla, Cogninn and Rakuten Symphony

The countdown is on to MNIS:NTN, a free-to-attend virtual event taking place on 3–4 November 2026, organised by the team from the Mobile Network Innovation Summit. Register now to watch live or access all of the sessions post event at www.mnis-ntn.com

Bringing together leading voices from across the telecoms and satellite industries, the event will explore the opportunities, challenges and commercial realities shaping the convergence of terrestrial and NTN.

In the run-up to the event, we’re taking a closer look at the six sessions which make up the two-day programme, highlighting topics and introducing the industry experts who will be sharing their perspectives.

Session Two – NTN Innovation Spotlight: Technology Innovation for NTN, Understanding the Architecture, Innovation Requirements and Technology Roadmap

Tuesday 3 November – 15:00–16:00 GMT

As satellite and terrestrial networks become increasingly interconnected, the focus is shifting from what's theoretically possible to the technologies, architectures and operational capabilities needed to make integrated connectivity work in practice.

While the promise of seamless connectivity across mobile and satellite networks is compelling, delivering it presents some significant technical challenges. How can different network architectures and technologies work together effectively? What innovations will be needed to ensure resilient, secure and reliable connectivity? And how can operators manage the growing complexity of networks that extend beyond traditional terrestrial infrastructure?

These are some of the questions at the heart of the second session of MNIS:NTN, exploring the technology developments, architectural considerations and innovation roadmaps shaping the future of non-terrestrial networks.

Introducing the speakers:

·      Bruno Tomás, Chief Technology Officer, Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA)

·      Luke Kehoe, Lead Analyst, Ookla

·      Fotis Foukalas, Technology Director, Cogninn

·      Anshul Bhatt, Chief Product Officer, OSS Business Unit, Rakuten Symphony

From network interoperability and security to automation, service reliability and the evolution towards 6G, the session promises to shed light on the technical foundations needed to turn NTN ambitions into scalable, real-world services.

MNIS:NTN takes place online on 3–4 November 2026, and registration is free. Sessions will also be available on demand after the event, so registered attendees can catch up on any discussions they cannot join live.
