Keysight and Korea Testing Laboratory Expand 5G NR-NTN Device Certification Capabilities
Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) has picked Keysight Technologies' 5G New Radio Non-Terrestrial Network (NR-NTN) test solutions to expand its satellite communications testing and certification capabilities. The deployment will enable KTL to evaluate the radio performance and network behaviour of devices designed to connect directly to satellite networks.
The new infrastructure will support radio frequency (RF) and Radio Resource Management (RRM) testing, allowing manufacturers to assess device performance, network access procedures and compliance with relevant 3GPP specifications. Keysight's wireless network emulation technology will provide a controlled environment for testing satellite-enabled devices before commercial deployment.
The investment builds on KTL's existing cellular testing capabilities, extending its validation activities from conventional terrestrial mobile networks and LTE-based direct-to-device technologies towards 5G NR-NTN. The transition is expected to support a wider range of satellite-connected devices and more demanding communications applications as the industry moves beyond initial satellite messaging services.
Keysight has also expanded its NR-NTN test coverage through recent Global Certification Forum (GCF) approvals, adding validated RF, performance and RRM test cases. These capabilities will help KTL support pre-conformance testing and prepare manufacturers for formal certification as NR-NTN requirements mature.
