Iridium and Syniverse to Deliver D2D Connectivity for MNOs
Iridium Communications and Syniverse have announced a global partnership to bring Iridium NTN Direct, a 3GPP-compliant, direct-to-device satellite connectivity service, to mobile network operators (MNOs) worldwide.
Integrating with Syniverse’s global mobile interoperability platform, Iridium NTN Direct will allow MNOs to seamlessly extend service beyond terrestrial coverage, offering standards-based NB-IoT messaging and SOS functionality across sectors like automotive, logistics, energy, and agriculture.
As a fully deployed LEO constellation operator, Iridium promises global reach, proven reliability, and safety-of-life-grade service. The partnership enables MNOs to onboard Iridium NTN Direct with simplified roaming, authentication, and billing through Syniverse’s carrier-grade system, which already serves 600 carriers in 170+ countries.
With testing set for later this year and commercial availability expected in 2026, Iridium and Syniverse are laying the groundwork for a truly global mobile future powered by satellite.
