Globalstar Completing South Korea Ground Infrastructure Upgrade

Globalstar has announced that it has nearly completed a major upgrade of its ground infrastructure in South Korea, installing three new six-meter C-3 tracking antennas at its Yeo Ju ground station to support its third-generation mobile satellite system.

The expansion strengthens capacity, redundancy, and service quality across East Asia, with a particular focus on next-generation mobile satellite services, including IoT and emerging direct-to-device (D2D) connectivity. The Yeo Ju site has been a cornerstone of Globalstar’s regional operations for more than 20 years, and the new antennas position it to support higher traffic volumes and more demanding NTN use cases.

Globalstar’s South Korea deployment is part of a wider global rollout, with C-3 construction underway at 15 locations in nine countries, and up to 90 new tracking antennas planned worldwide.

Together, these investments are designed to future-proof Globalstar’s constellation and enable scalable, low-latency satellite connectivity for hundreds of millions of users as IoT and D2D services move closer to broad commercial adoption.
