Gilat to Deliver Next-Gen Virtualized Satellite Networks

Gilat Satellite Networks has secured a $40 million contract to deliver its virtualized SkyEdge IV platform, a major leap forward in cloud-based satellite ground infrastructure and future-ready 5G-NTN connectivity.

Built on a cloud-native, DIFI-compliant architecture, SkyEdge IV enables multi-orbit, multi-service support and can be deployed on standard cloud infrastructure. It’s designed to accelerate delivery of next-gen services and create an open, flexible ecosystem for satcom innovation.

“This is a major milestone in the digital transformation of satellite ground networks,” said Ron Levin, Gilat’s President of Commercial. “We’re pushing fast toward a 5G-NTN future…with software-defined satellites and virtualized services leading the way.”

The platform will roll out over the next 24 months, opening new revenue streams and enabling seamless integration of terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks.
