Cubic3 and SoftBank Partner for Connected Vehicle ‘Ubiquitous Network’

Cubic3 and SoftBank have announced a strategic partnership to enable uninterrupted connectivity for software-defined vehicles (SDVs) by integrating satellite and terrestrial networks into a unified ‘Ubiquitous Network.’

Targeting sectors such as automotive, agriculture, and transportation, the collaboration aims to support key connected services like predictive maintenance, telematics, and real-time navigation, even in areas without cellular coverage.

To realize this, Cubic3 is working with major satellite players:

  • Intelsat: Successful vehicle connectivity trials showing seamless TN/NTN handover via Cubic3 Cloud.

  • Skylo: Launch of the first dual-mode SIM for cars, supporting both cellular and satellite connectivity.

  • Viasat: Live trials starting in 2025 to test real-time communications, weather, and emergency alerts via satellite.

SoftBank, with NTN expertise, and Cubic3’s cloud platform are building toward commercial deployment within the next few years.
