Anritsu Validates Test Cases for Satellite-Enabled 5G devices

Anritsu Corporation has successfully verified and now supports 3GPP Release 17 Non-Terrestrial Network (NR NTN) conformance test cases on its flagship 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR. This validation marks a critical milestone in enabling mobile devices to connect to LEO, MEO, and GEO satellites using standard 5G protocols, paving the way for ubiquitous global 5G coverage.

Release 17 expands the 5G New Radio (NR) framework to include NTN, enabling satellite-based networks to function like terrestrial base stations. Anritsu’s verified test cases, defined under 3GPP TS 38.523-1 and aligned with TS 38.331, have been submitted to 3GPP RAN Working Group 5 (RAN5) and are now available on the RAN5 portal.

Anritsu’s ME7834NR platform - registered as Test Platform 251 with both GCF and PTCRB - supports conformance and carrier acceptance testing across a wide range of technologies, including 5G SA/NSA, LTE-A, and now NTN. When paired with the company’s OTA RF chamber MA8171A and RF converters, it enables testing across both sub-6 GHz and mmWave bands.
