Vanu Picks Amazon’s Project Kuiper to Connect Rural Africa with Satellite-Backhaul

Vanu, Inc. has signed a strategic agreement with Amazon’s Project Kuiper to integrate Kuiper’s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite backhaul into its mobile infrastructure portfolio, enabling affordable, high-performance rural connectivity across Africa, starting in Southern Africa in 2026.

Vanu, which specializes in mobile network solutions for hard-to-reach regions, will use Kuiper’s low-latency broadband to extend its Coverage-as-a-Service model, providing mobile operators with a cost-effective alternative to terrestrial backhaul. The integration will allow MNOs to deploy voice and data services in isolated communities without the need for extensive tower or fiber infrastructure.

Project Kuiper, which has over 150 satellites already in orbit, aims to support both consumer and enterprise connectivity solutions through its global network.
