Session Five – NTN Investment and Innovation: Where Money Is Being Invested and Novel Developments and Approaches to NTN

Wednesday 4 November – 10:00–11:00 GMT

As non-terrestrial networks move increasingly into the mainstream of the telecommunications industry, investment and innovation are accelerating across the satellite connectivity ecosystem. From new satellite architectures and network technologies to emerging service models and ambitious start-ups, the sector is attracting attention from established operators, technology providers and investors alike. But where is the money being invested, and which approaches have the greatest potential to deliver sustainable commercial returns?

While the opportunities presented by NTN are significant, turning technological innovation into a viable business is rarely straightforward. Developing new solutions, securing funding, scaling infrastructure and bringing services to market all present challenges, particularly in an industry where technical complexity and capital requirements can be substantial.

Session Five of MNIS:NTN will explore the investment and innovation landscape, looking at the novel developments, technologies and commercial approaches that could shape the next phase of the market. Which areas of NTN are attracting investment? What differentiates promising innovations from commercially viable propositions? And how can emerging companies successfully develop and scale their technologies in an increasingly competitive marketplace?

The discussion brings together a diverse group of industry professionals, spanning telecoms strategy and consulting, satellite communications, network technology and emerging connectivity ventures.

Introducing the speakers:

·      Barry Graham, Independent Telecoms Professional

·      Maximilian Schnippering, Manager TMT, BearingPoint

·      Walt Anderson, Founder & CEO, Avealto

·      Joe Cahill, Senior Systems Engineer, Druid Software

·      Shola Efunshile, COO, UNIVITY

From the challenges of financing and commercialising new technologies to the opportunities presented by emerging network architectures and innovative service models, there'll be plenty to explore.

MNIS:NTN takes place online on 3–4 November 2026, and registration is free. Sessions will also be available on demand after the event, so registered attendees can catch up on any discussions they cannot join live.
