MNIS:NTN Virtual Event – Session Focus: Unlocking the Satellite IoT Opportunity – ft. Deutsche Telekom, OQ Technology, Iridium and Myriota

The countdown is on to MNIS, a free-to-attend virtual event taking place on 3–4 November 2026, organised by the team from the Mobile Network Innovation Summit. Bringing together leading voices from across the telecoms and satellite industries, the event will explore the opportunities, challenges and commercial realities shaping the convergence of terrestrial and NTN.

In the run-up to the event, we're taking a closer look at the six sessions which make up the two-day programme, highlighting topics and introducing the industry experts who will be sharing their perspectives. To register visit – https://www.mnis-ntn.com

Session Four – IoT Opportunity: New Business Models, the Economics of Satellite IoT and the Growth of Dedicated NTN IoT Service Providers

Wednesday 4 November – 09:00–10:00 GMT

The Internet of Things (IoT) is emerging as one of the most compelling commercial opportunities for satellite communications. From tracking assets across remote locations and monitoring critical infrastructure to connecting agricultural equipment, maritime operations and industrial sensors, satellite IoT offers the potential to extend connectivity far beyond the reach of traditional terrestrial mobile networks.

But turning that potential into a sustainable business is another matter. How can satellite IoT providers deliver connectivity at a cost that makes sense for devices transmitting relatively small amounts of data? Which applications offer the strongest commercial opportunities? And how will the business models of established satellite operators, mobile network operators and emerging specialist providers evolve as the market develops?

This session will bring together four organisations approaching the satellite IoT opportunity from different parts of the connectivity ecosystem.

Introducing the speakers:

·      Jens Olejak, Satellite IoT Programme Lead, Deutsche Telekom

·      Prasanna Nagarajan, Chief Technology Officer, OQ Technology

·      Brian Aziz, Vice President of Global Sales, Iridium

·      Dave Haley, Co-Founder and CTO, Myriota

With perspectives from a leading European mobile operator, an established global satellite communications provider and two companies specialising in satellite-enabled IoT connectivity, the discussion should provide valuable insights into the evolving commercial and technical landscape.

MNIS takes place online on 3–4 November 2026, and registration is free. Sessions will also be available on demand after the event, so registered attendees can catch up on any discussions they cannot join live.
