MNIS:NTN Virtual Event – Session Focus: Satellite Networks at the Centre of the Global Sovereignty Debate – ft. Orange Wholesale, Analysys Mason, Skylo and SES

The countdown is on to MNIS:NTN, a free-to-attend virtual event taking place on 3–4 November 2026, organised by the team from the Mobile Network Innovation Summit. Bringing together leading voices from across the telecoms and satellite industries, the event will explore the opportunities, challenges and commercial realities shaping the convergence of terrestrial and NTN.

In the run-up to the event, we’re taking a closer look at the six sessions which make up the two-day programme, highlighting topics and introducing the industry experts who will be sharing their perspectives. To register visit - https://www.mnis-ntn.com

Session Three – NTN Regulation & Sovereignty: Satellite Networks at the Centre of the Global Sovereignty Debate

Tuesday 3 November – 16:00–17:00 GMT

As satellite connectivity becomes an increasingly important part of the global communications landscape, questions around regulation, sovereignty and control of critical network infrastructure are gaining prominence.

The ability of satellite networks to deliver connectivity across national borders brings opportunities, but also raises important questions around how governments and regulators can balance the benefits of global satellite coverage with national sovereignty requirements. What are the implications for operators, service providers and their customers? And how can an increasingly interconnected ecosystem navigate different national regulations, licensing frameworks and security considerations?

These issues are particularly relevant as satellite and terrestrial networks become more closely integrated, and governments place greater emphasis on the resilience, security and strategic independence of their communications infrastructure.

The third session of MNIS explores the position of satellite networks within the wider global sovereignty debate, bringing together perspectives from satellite operators, telecommunications providers, regulatory specialists and industry analysts.

Introducing the speakers:

·      Imane Benseddik, Director of Satellite Factory, Orange Wholesale

·      Luc Palerm-Serra, Research Director, Space Practice, Analysys Mason

·      Mindel De La Torre, Head of Global Regulatory Affairs, Skylo

·      Gerry Collins, Director Product Management, SES

From regulatory frameworks and national security considerations to network resilience, cross-border connectivity and the question of who controls critical communications infrastructure, there's plenty of ground to cover.

MNIS:NTN takes place online on 3–4 November 2026, and registration is free. Sessions will also be available on demand after the event, so registered attendees can catch up on any discussions they cannot join live.
