HD Hyundai Construction Equipment Picks Iridium Satellite IoT for Remote Fleet Monitoring
Iridium Communications has been selected by HD Hyundai Construction Equipment to power global connectivity for Hi MATE, the manufacturer’s remote fleet management platform. By integrating Iridium’s Short Burst Data (SBD) service, Hyundai will extend real-time monitoring and diagnostics to machines operating far beyond terrestrial coverage.
Hi MATE provides tracking, geofencing, engine-hour reporting, fuel consumption metrics, and fault diagnostics for excavators and wheel loaders. Through Iridium’s low-latency L-band network Hyundai can deliver real-time machine health monitoring in areas with no cellular coverage, predictive maintenance based on continuous telemetry, lower operational downtime via remote troubleshooting, and global deployment without relying on fixed infrastructure.
Iridium emphasized that heavy equipment OEMs continue shifting to satellite-native IoT solutions for reliability and worldwide reach, particularly in construction, mining, forestry, and other industries where equipment regularly operates outside mobile networks.
