EU Approves SES Acquisition of Intelsat
The European Commission has given unconditional approval to SES’s acquisition of fellow satellite operator Intelsat, concluding the merger won't harm competition in the European Economic Area. Both companies operate GEO satellites and provide satellite capacity and services across media, aviation, maritime, and government sectors.
The Commission found that strong rivals and alternative technologies like fibre and LEO networks will continue to provide competitive pressure. The deal is expected to boost coverage, resilience, and competitiveness as satellite markets evolve.
