Alén Space to Build Satellites for Sateliot 5G Constellation
Spanish 5G satellite operator Sateliot has contracted Alén Space to manufacture its next five low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, set for launch in 2026. These satellites mark the next phase in Sateliot’s plan to build a 100+ satellite constellation offering global 5G connectivity, with both civilian and defense applications in mind.
The new generation of satellites will feature upgraded payload capacity and support more advanced communication capabilities, aimed at use cases ranging from everyday IoT to emergency response and territorial security. The satellites will be manufactured in Nigrán, Spain, continuing Sateliot’s strategy to anchor its operations firmly within Europe and support the EU’s goals for space and telecom sovereignty.
The collaboration builds on a proven track record between the two firms: Alén Space also built Sateliot’s first four commercial satellites, launched in 2024 aboard a SpaceX rocket.
Sateliot says it has already secured around €270 million in customer commitments across 50 countries, and is targeting €1 billion in revenue by 2030. With 3GPP-compliant, direct-to-device connectivity as its foundation, the company aims to become a core pillar in Europe’s sovereign NTN ecosystem and a global contender in 5G satellite IoT.
