AccelerComm Joins MSSA with Focus on Satellite-to-Device Connectivity

AccelerComm, the Southampton-based specialist in high-performance 5G technology for satellites, has announced that it has joined the Mobile Satellite Services Association (MSSA), a global industry group dedicated to advancing direct-to-device (D2D) and Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) connectivity.

Formed in early 2024, MSSA is working to unlock the potential of L- and S-band satellite spectrum already licensed for mobile use. By aligning around 3GPP standards and building an open ecosystem, the association aims to ensure that connectivity via satellites isn’t a niche add-on but a seamless extension of the mobile experience.

For AccelerComm, the move signals a deeper commitment to making NTNs scalable and practical across industries—from agriculture and automotive to government and enterprise. CEO David Helfgott calls it “an exciting time for the NTN sector,” with 5G deployments in space opening up entirely new opportunities for connectivity.
